Michael Bissett-Powell
- A fire engine station was built just off the High Street in 1829, but it projected into the street which caused a bottle-neck for carriages trying to go down "Shooting-off Road", later known as Thames Street. It was closed in around 1860 and the fire engine was re-housed in fire station in Church Street
